About Rep. Robert J. Sutherland

Rep. Robert J. Sutherland is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Robert earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Gonzaga University. He is serving his first term in the state House of Representatives.

Robert spent his career researching DNA and developing cancer therapies around the Puget Sound area. He, and his family, are active members in their community and believe in the importance of giving back. Robert has been a member of a nonprofit charity organization that awards grants to students studying Scottish music, dance and language. He also raises money for Seattle's Children's Hospital and coached basketball for the Boys and Girls Club. His wife and youngest daughter are also active members in the Snohomish County 4H equine program.

As a husband, father, biochemist and veteran, Robert knows firsthand how far honesty and speaking the truth will take you in life, and considers them key ingredients to being successful. He is a state lawmaker who speaks plainly, honestly and openly about the issues facing his district, and will always work toward sound solutions that will benefit, rather than harm, the citizens of Washington State.

Robert, his wife Donna, and their youngest daughter Serena, live just south of Granite Falls, about 15 miles north of Monroe. Robert and Donna have raised their four children proudly in Snohomish County, and believe it is one of the best places in the world to live, raise a family, work and play.
