Rep. Robert J. Sutherland speaks during an Appropriations Committee hearing on the importance of transparency

Before a recent public hearing in the House Appropriations Committee, Senate Bill 5376 was amended by the committee through a striking amendment. What this means is the entire bill was struck down to just the title of the bill. House Republicans were against this process as they felt it eliminated the hard work put forward by the Senate on this bill. Rep. Robert J. Sutherland, R-Granite Falls, provides his comments on the process of striking this bill and how it jeopardizes transparency in the process to allow the public to vent their thoughts, questions and opinions on this policy. Watch his comments here.
